Are you looking for a good way to uninstall STEAM? Well, you will know what to do after reading this article.
STEAM is a digital platform that provides automatic game updates, community features, chat and in voice game functionality. It’s more of a colossal platform for large and individual developers to brandish their online content under the same network. The platform also allows users to keep purchases safe in their accounts. But the program may also take up a lot of space and drag down the performance of your computer, if you want to speed up your computer by uninstalling it you can try the following ways.
Method One. Using The Add/Remove Programs Control Panel
For Windows 7 users:
Step 1. Exit Steam
Step 2. Press “Start”and select “Control Panel”.
Step 3. Click Programs and Features.
Step 4. If you’re in Category view, under “Programs”, click “Uninstall a program”.
Select the unwanted program, and click the Uninstall option.
For Windows XP users:
Step 1. Exit Steam
Step 2. Click the Start Menu and select “Control Panel”.
Step 3. Click “Add or Remove Programs”.
Step 4. Select the program you want to remove and press “Remove”.
You need to take the following steps to remove the leftover files related to the platform.
Step 1. Browse through the “Steam Directory” in your system (it is usually located at C:\ Program Files… or C:\ Program Files\ Valve… ).
Step 2. Delete the contents of the installation directory( For keeping your saved games, move the “steamapps”folder to elsewhere before this action).
Step 3. Press “Start”, click “Run” and enter “regedit”.
Step 4. In the left-hand column of your registry editor, locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREValve.
Step 5. Right-click on the subdirectory of the unwanted program and click “Delete”.
Method Two. Removing the Program By An Uninstaller
If you think doing the process manually is a waste of time, you can resort to another method. An Uninstaller is a good choice for you, as it is quite easy to use and works faster than the manual method. You can consider trying Mighty Uninstaller. The reason I recommend it is that it can guarantee hassle-free removal of the program by scanning all registry entries, files and folders and removing all leftover files and registry entries left by the program in a few minutes. The utility also helps you to back up your registry in case of registry crashes, so it is very safe to use it.If you want to use the uninstaller, follow these steps:
Step 1. Download the uninstaller for free from a trusted website.
Step 2. Double-click the.exe file of the uninstaller to install it on your system.
Step 3. Run it and make a full scan of your registry.
Step 4. Select the platform in the given program list and then click on “Uninstall” button.
